Flowfact

This project attempts to apply AR technology to the solution of ocean plastic pollution. The AR plays a vital role in the littering simulation and connects the ocean plastic pollution problem to people's daily lives. This application faces the people who often walk by the river and love littering the river. While people litter the river, they are involved in polluting the oceans, even without knowing it.

Demonstration video

'Flowfact' comes from a combination of two words, 'flow' represents the rivers carrying wastes and polluting the oceans. 'Facts' represent the use of simulations to convey the message that littering pollutes the oceans. Marine creatures appear many times in this project, not only guiding users with the role of the narrator but also appearing in the project's logo. The project's logo references sea lions trapped by fabric. This shape also represents the effect of marine pollution.

Color design

The main body of the colour is the dark blue of the ocean. The light coffee comes from the land. This colour set is based on the project's content, which will involve a lot of 'water' and 'pollution'.

The pollution

While people litter the river, they are involved in polluting the oceans, even without knowing it. This is because most of the rubbish thrown away is relatively lightweight, like plastic packaging and an empty bottle. These wastes are more likely to be carried into the ocean by rivers, polluting the marine environment.

Narration

They are using the marine animal as the narration character and adding some different states, such as seagulls stuck in cans, etc., to reflect the damage caused by littering. The text content is also shortened through narration, and some text content is turned into first-person expressions to make them more conversational.

Prototyping and Frameworks

Frameworks design is also a critical part of this project, and it is necessary to reasonably allocate the different stages of the simulation to each screen. There are timelines in two directions in the simulation, some parts of the frame can be reused, making the whole easier to manipulate and saving resources.
